Ms. Marous has been in private practice in New York since 2001. Although a native to New York, Ms. Marous received most of her legal training in France, obtaining two Masters one in Business law and the other in Anglo-American Common Law from the Universite de Cergy Pontoise. She continued her advanced legal studies, doctoral residency, at the Univertise de Paris-La Sorbonne with specialization in International Law and International Organizations. Her thesis was entitled The Acts of International Civil Society with Regards to International Norms. Ms. Marous also obtained an LL.M. in American Legal Studies from the Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center in New York. As part of her training, Ms. Marous interned under the former New York State Supreme Court Judge Bruce Wright.
Ms. Marous has amassed a world of experience and knowledge as she has been dedicated to tackling various international matters. She has worked in the Legal Affairs Department at the world headquarter of UNESCO in Paris. There, she lead in assessing member countries’ compliance with conventions to which they were signatories and participated in the work of the Legal Committee of the General Conference session.
Likewise, Ms. Marous has volunteered with a number of nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) such as the Lawyers Committee for Human Rights. In the NGO arena some of the issues she has counseled on include the bond boycott and compulsory licensing effort in South African litigation and also pharmaceutical drug pricing in Africa as related to international law. She recently participated in the 2008 Human Rights Proposed Platform Drafting Subcommittee for the New York Democratic Lawyers Committee.
Concerned about how international norms impact the lives of the private citizen, even while managing a large case load in her practice (including litigation and other types of matters), Ms. Marous always made the time to take on the challenges of various types of human rights cases (such as asylum and other U.S. immigration matters).
